We acquired our first serious show dog in 1979 from Joyce Hopkins of the Moonwinds kennel, a very nice dog called Rushlight Eden of Yanuka (Asa to his friends). Asa had a very good show career in the U.K gaining 2 CC's and 5 Res CC's and was a multiple champ show winner. At 4 years of age he went to South Africa where he gained his title, winning in excess of 30 CC's and also produced very well. I was invited to judge in South Africa and the following week was fortunate to attend a premier show under visiting German judges where I handled an Asa son and won the open dog class with some 30 plus entries. Asa won the veteran class at 9 years old. He also won the progeny parade and went on to win the Res CC. What a great memory of my first show dog.
In my younger days I handled many champ show and CC winners. We then concentrated on running our kennels and took a break for a few years from showing. We now have the bug again and, on acquiring some new stock, are looking forward to the future.
